As we settle into the Fall, planning has begun for the 2020/21 travel basketball season.
We have been working with local officials and neighboring sports facilities to secure safe access to gyms for
our teams to begin practices before the start of games. We have been exploring a few options for the season that will give our teams
competitive play in a safe environment.
Scenario #1 Each team will practice twice a week and participate in a 2 day tournament every other weekend. Each team will be entered into 5 tournaments during the regular winter season. Qualifying teams will compete in a single game elimination championship tournament. More info about tournament set up, Covid plans, travel town rules & division will be sent in a separate email.
Scenario #2 Same scenario as Option #1 above, except each team will practice only ONCE a week.
Scenario #3: There is not enough gym space available to fairly host a proper season. Tryouts will be held for all Monroe boys grades 3rd/4th-8th and play under an AAU umbrella this winter, and MTB coaches will continue to coach. We have already communicated with Connecticut Elite regarding this scenario.
Although we are eager to begin the season, a final go forward plan will not be available until the practice facilities have been secured and we anticipate this to happen by the first week of November.
